DMRC chief E Sreedharan today admitted that the fault that caused the mishap on Delhi Metro’s construction site last week was due to oversight on his part. I had always heard and read about this man’s integrity and impeccable credentials. And the way in which he accepted responsibility during his interview shows him to be exactly that. When given an option to lay the blame on the deadline for the commonwealth games he flatly refused and took complete responsibility for the accident. Unlike most of our politicians and bureaucrats who are always on the lookout for passing the buck. Not that it will bring back the dead, but with all due respect, it does help to know that the person responsible for your son/husband’s death is not hiding behind excuses- but owns up to mistakes.

Mr Sreedharan we need more people like you in business and government! For those shortsighted people calling for his head….well good luck in finding someone with the same competence and character who could deliver the job on time!
