Phil 3: 7-1:1 I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

I love this verse because Paul talks in a language I understand – Profit and Loss! In economic terms I respond to incentives because I am a rational being. So when Jim Elliot said “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose.” he totally nailed it! Following JC is the most rational thing you can do!

Unconditional love, Amazing forgiveness and Incredible grace on earth and then to spend eternity with the Source of all life VS all the junk you can accumulate over a lifetime and then have to leave behind anyway at the end? Come on! Are you kidding me? Even you know better than that!

LORD, let this verse be true in my life and in the lives of those around me. Draw me nearer to you and your purposes. Let me be sold out for JC. To know and follow hard after You! May “To live is Christ” be the deepest cry of my heart!
Let it also be that when people meet me they leave with a hunger for knowing you more. Let me be as salt that leaves them thirsty for the Living Water!

LORD may I also move from a rational (intellectual) knowledge of you to an experiential knowledge of you.

Knowing you Jesus, Knowing you! There is no greater thing!
