Have been reading about the IPL 3 auction that was held today. Besides the news of new players being snapped up by the different teams, the other piece that caught my attention was that no Pakistani player was bought by any of the franchisees.

The reason given was that none of the owners wanted to take the chance that the Pakistani players might not be able to play the full season like last time so decided to opt out of the bidding process for them. To me it sounded like it was deliberately rigged to humiliate the Pakistanis.

If that was the real reason to keep the Pakistanis out then they shouldn’t have been invited to play in the IPL in the first place! But no, they were selected from among all the players and Shahid Afridi was supposed to be one of the most sought after players this season! Imagine IPL bosses choosing them and then deciding that they were too risky!

Is this our famed Indian hospitality? To invite people and then humiliate them? So what if they are Pakistanis!

I guess this is what you get when cheap backroom politics and weak-kneed businessmen come together!

And yeah, as if he GOI didn’t have a say in all of  this as our ‘Honourable’ Sports minister claims!  And I am the Queen of England!
