There is an interesting article in The Business Line on Economics and intellectual honesty. It seemed to be pretty critical of the subject though acknowledging it’s obvious importance in our daily lives.

The writer does seem to have a point especially with regard to the recent crisis and the apparent cluelessness of Central Bankers and finance ministers who seemed bereft of ideas and were all looking to the US Fed for answers! Other economists also seemed to have varying opinions on what was the best approach to stem the flow but very often it seemed like listening to your various aunts homemade remedies on what to do for a particularly persistent cold!
