So India won the World Cup! Great! Like any other Indian I am proud of the team. The sight of batting legend Sachin Tendulkar being carried on the shoulders of GeNext Indian cricketers for a victory lap  will be a lifetime memory!  My father saw Kapil Dev win the World Cup for India in his generation. MS Dhoni did it for mine!

However, let us also spare a thought for the Sri Lankans- 2 consecutive World Cup  finals- talk about consistency!

But what I really liked about the Lankans is how they responded to defeat. You can tell a lot about a person when you see how they behave in adverse situations. Watching the post match interview of Kumar Sangakkara- all I could say was: Wow! He really is a gracious loser!

He is not sparing in his praise for the Indian team and doesn’t offer any excuses for his team’s performance! They were beaten by a better team!

You can’t help but admire the guy and his team!

Great going Lankans- you are a champion team!

An article in the Hindu also highlights how their country responded to their ‘defeated’ team! I wish other countries from the sub continent would take a leaf from their book! Especially India!
